Welcome to the Youth Section

If you’re young and enjoy bikes then the Leicester Off Road Club is the place for you.

That’s because, we’re a cycling club with our own mountain bike course and loads of area to have some fun and get dirty on our bikes. If that sounds like fun and you’ve got a bike and helmet (you must wear a helmet but you can borrow one to start with if not) then read on….

Our track and clubroom is based at the Outdoor Pursuits Centre not far from the centre of Leicester and we meet every Friday night where we get to be coached, ride or even race. But we’re not only into mountain biking, we like to get out and do some other riding as well and this means there’s some visits to different places like the wooden velodrome at Manchester where we can try track riding or perhaps a BMX track. We’ll also be organising one of two visits Leicester Cycle Speedway club who’s expert coaches will soon have us racing round their 75 meter track – it’s wicked!

We’ll also be going to Groby Community College in the summer for some grass track racing and to have a go at the Go-Ride Skills test or even the Talent Team Test – you can find out all about these at – www.go-ride.org.uk And don’t worry, you don’t need a special bike – you can take part on your own bike for most activities, and if we need special bikes we can arrange that – we even have some of our own bikes that you can borrow if you need to.

And that’s not all. We’ve got some racing going on as well. Once a month they’ll be a race for all ages, split into different categories - from under 8’s, to under 16’s so you’ll always be racing against other kids around your own age.

All you need to do now to find out more is get along to the clubroom on a Friday night where we ‘re riding from 7pm. If you just want to come and see what’s going on to start with that cool – just turn up. But if you want to take part, make sure you’ve got one of your parents / guardians with you because they’ll have to sign a form to say you can have a go.

To find out more about when the different things are going on, go to the events page.
